Senators Claire Wilson and Lisa Wellman visited Puget Sound ESD to meet with regional superintendents on Friday, August 2. This was part of a statewide tour of all ESDs led by Senator Wellman, for the second year in a row, in her role as Chair of the Early Learning and K-12 Committee. Senator Wilson is a member of the Early Learning and K-12 Committee in the Senate.
Senator Claire Wilson extended her visit and participated in a Listening Session with Early Learning Parents. Senator Wilson reflected on the visit afterwards:
“A wonderful, insightful and informative listening session and conversation focused on parent/family voice with families involved in ESD early learning programs. A few things that we heard about? The role of fathers and the impact to children who are growing up in fatherless homes, language access (translation/interpretation), child care eligibility and cliffs, home visiting and home-based services, strength of family focused programs, working connections and military challenges, and transportation needs. Lots to work on – thanks for sharing! Early Care and Education is an answer! It was a wonderful day.”
We thank Senator Wilson and the parents in attendance for their commitment to early learning, families and community!
