Our Transformation Team is a collective of PSESD staff and community members working together to guide our agency through the processes of
1. Implementing our Racial Equity Policy
2. Achieving our goal of becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization
Established in 2016, the PSESD Transformation Team is responsible for guiding and overseeing the implementation of the agency’s Racial Equity Policy in order to lead the agency towards becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization. Our team consists of 30 members who represent departments and programs throughout our agency, as well as several community partners and parent representatives. All Transformation Team members have joined the team through a selection process, and have been involved with a rigorous training process with Crossroads to build a shared analysis of systemic racism within our organization and develop a strategic plan to lead our agency toward long-term and permanent antiracist and anti-oppressive transformation.
The implementation of our Racial Equity Policy and ongoing efforts to become an Antiracist Multicultural Organization have deep roots in PSESD’s history. Our agency’s intentional focus on racial equity began in 2008 with a charge from Superintendent Monte Bridges and the formation of the Equity and Inclusion Taskforce. The documents linked below provide an overview of how this work started, where we are, and where we are headed next.
